Martin Luther King, “Why I Am Opposed to the War in Vietnam”

Dr. King hits the nail on the head as far as I am concerned with this moving sermon on the war in Vietnam.

  1. It really takes a lot of courage to choose a non-violent path to victory, especially when one believes they have the necessary power to be victorious in the violent path.

I wish children were taught more about these opinions from Martin Luther King and not just about the one speech. They would see a man who stood by a lot of conviction and they would learn his reasoning for non-violence so they could implement it in their own lives.

  2. Very thought provoking…its horribly and frieghtning what we have become as we senselesly war and kill to no end. And then for myself and others to return from war to live a tormented life… it really doesn’t have to be like this really.
they say peace, peace, when there is NO PEACE. the only hope for peace is when the prince of peace returns and only then. But as for now we can seek Him ( JESUS ) While He may be found and have a spiritual peace and assurance of a life ever lasting. Maranatha!

  3. Joseph,

Thanks for dropping a comment. How did you end up changing your mind about war? Were you already a Christ-follower when you joined the military?
